From a London Train to the Mijas Hills: Filming a Dream Destination Wedding Near Marbella
Sometimes the best stories start completely by chance. A random chat on a train one evening ended up taking me all the way to Spain to film an incredible English–Spanish destination wedding in the Mijas Hills, just outside Marbella and Malaga. What started as a simple commute turned into one of my favourite experiences as a wedding videographer, capturing a day full of sunshine, emotion, and a bit of serendipity.
How It All Started on a Train from London Blackfriars
Picture this - it’s 2022, and I’ve just wrapped up a corporate filming job in the City. It’s rush hour at London Blackfriars, and I’m boarding the train with three large camera bags and a couple of tripods I need to keep close.
Demi is sitting alone in one of those little four-seat booths where the pairs of chairs face each other. I jump in, stash my gear overhead so I can keep an eye on it, and she kindly moves her suitcase to make room. Naturally, we start chatting. She asks what I’ve been working on, and before long, the conversation turns to weddings. She mentions she’s heading to Spain the following year to get married in the picturesque Mijas Hills, just outside Marbella, at a beautiful venue called Cortijo Rosa Blanca.
From a Quick Chat to a Life-Changing Opportunity
Demi was in London from Yorkshire for a few days on business and had to change trains not 30 minutes into our conversation — so it was a brief encounter. I gave her my usual non-salesy pitch and directed her to my Instagram. The problem? She didn’t use social media. So, we exchanged numbers instead.
At that point, Demi told me she hadn’t yet booked a wedding videographer and wasn’t even sure if she wanted one. But she believed that things happen for a reason, and that our random train chat might just have been one of those moments.
A few weeks later, we jumped on a call to chat through her plans — and to my delight, she and her partner decided to go ahead. That’s how a chance meeting on a commuter train led me to film a beautiful destination wedding in the Mijas Hills, blending English and Spanish traditions against the stunning backdrop of southern Spain near Malaga.
Why I Love Destination Wedding Videography in Spain
There’s something about filming weddings abroad - the light, the people, the atmosphere. That holiday feeling elevates the experience and mood and it’s a joy to capture. I’m a huge fan of travelling and exploring new places and I bring that filmmaking eye looking for stories in every corner I turn.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in the Mijas Hills, Marbella, or anywhere around Malaga, I’d love to come along for the ride and capture it all. My filming style is super relaxed, nothing staged or forced - just real moments, real emotions, and the little details that make your day yours.
Whether you’re saying “I do” in the sunshine of southern Spain or somewhere a bit closer to home, I bring the same creative eye and easygoing vibe to every wedding.
So if you’re after a wedding videographer in the Mijas Hills near Marbella or Malaga, drop me a message - I’d love to hear what you’re planning!
